ABOUT

Founded in 1987, Alden Street Review (ASR) is a literary and art magazine that showcases the creative talents of Springfield College students and staff. With its first online publication in 2023, Alden Street Review aims to spread the creative content of its pages to a new platform, making it easily accessible to all.

The editorial board dedicates itself to continuous change as the world moves in a more progressive direction. Though housed in a small department on campus, Alden Street Review strives to welcome all students and faculty, regardless of writing and art experience.

MASTHEAD

EXECUTIVE EDITOR

Remy Niland has spent the last four years on the Alden Street Review editorial board, serving as Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief, and now holds the position of Executive Editor during her senior year. Besides reading and writing, Remy loves playing field hockey and soccer, going to concerts, and spending time with family.

SENIOR EDITOR AND ART DIRECTOR

Rachel Justice is a senior in the Art and Design program at Springfield College. Having previously studied poetry, Rachel combines her love for literature and visual arts in design and layout for the Alden Street Review.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF / DIGITAL

James Uyar is a senior in the Computer Science/English program at Springfield College. He joined the Alden Street Review in his first semester here after transferring in his junior year and is the current editor-in-chief of the digital journal. Outside of school and work, he spends his time reading and spending time with friends and family.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF / PRINT

Angel Martinez is in the Health Sciences program and minor in Creative Writing at Springfield College, and joined Alden Street Review after submitting to it last year in hopes of gaining more experience and wanting to contribute more to the creative community here on campus. I have a weird but healthy obsession with Courage the Cowardly Dog and love all forms of expression; however, my personal favorites are poetry and anything philosophy-related. I hope that with our new system, we garner more creative pieces than before, and can’t wait to hunker down and read all the pieces submitted to us.

JUNIOR EDITOR

Maegan Boucher is a freshman majoring in English and minoring in Public History and Museum Studies. When Maegan isn’t rehearsing with the Best of Broadway club preparing for their next show, she loves rewatching Gilmore Girls and Glee on repeat and enjoys all things bookish. She is so excited to be a part of the Alden Street Review.

JUNIOR EDITOR

Elijah Colon-Mendez is a junior majoring in English and Computer Science. He wanted to be a part of the Alden Street Review to promote creative writing while also learning how to improve his own. His favorite genre of story telling is dark fantasy in all forms of media such as in books, graphic novels, movies, and games. He hopes to be a writer so here’s praying that you’ll see a book of his one day.

JUNIOR EDITOR

Joanna Medeiros is a sophomore/junior at Springfield College and junior editor for the Alden Street Review. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and collecting squishmallows.
